Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival organizers announced the final additions to this year’s lineup last week, revealing that DJ Snake and David Guetta will perform at the Quasar stage.
The addition of these two artists has fueled anticipation for the festival, which is now two months away. While the initial lineup reveal faced social media criticism, both weekends sold out in less than a week, a feat not seen since 2022.
“I think the Coachella lineup this year is below average personally,” Senior Justin Amaya said. “I think it didn’t live up to last year or any year before that.”
Despite the critiques regarding a lack of big name legacy acts, many attribute the sell-out to first-time headliner Justin Bieber.
“I am not surprised this weekend sold out because of Justin Bieber and his fans,” Senior Aiden Vazquez explained.
Senior Diego Burciaga agreed, noting the singer’s long-standing impact. “I am most excited to see Justin Bieber because he has the most nostalgic and iconic songs from the 2010 era,” Burciaga said. “He has a lot of hit songs and I grew up listening to him.”
The 2026 lineup appears to lean into the social media trend “2026 is the new 2016.” Several featured artists, including Bieber, DJ Snake, Swae Lee, and Major Lazer, were cornerstones of the music scene a decade ago.
This theme is further supported by a record-breaking presence of Electronic Dance Music (EDM). This year, EDM acts make up 45% of the lineup, surpassing the previous record of 39% set in 2025.
While the lineup is lean on rap, it features Young Thug, a highly regarded Atlanta rapper making his solo set debut.
“I am most looking forward to Young Thug,” Vazquez said. “I have been listening to him my whole life.”
