In the journey through high school, English remains a vital core class. For students in college preparatory (CP) courses, the teacher leading the room often shapes the experience. At Shadow Hills High School, Ms. Papp teaches English to both sophomores and juniors.
When asked what motivates her daily, Ms. Papp pointed to her roots.
“My family motivates me the most,” Papp said. “I also do this because it’s what inspired me to become a teacher in the first place.”
Her path to the classroom began with a challenging but rewarding university experience.
“My college years were exciting,” Papp said. “Even if they got overwhelming at times, I never once stopped being encouraged.”
As she progresses through the 2025-2026 school year, Papp admitted that her junior classes are her favorite, despite their high energy levels.
“Even though some of the juniors get rowdy during class, especially in the afternoon, it can get quite tiring,” she explained. “But that doesn’t stop me from pushing through each day.”
With English serving as a cornerstone of the high school journey, the motivation of teachers like Papp can serve as a catalyst for students to stay focused on their own goals.
