The Lady Knights Wrestling Team, along with teams from the Valley and beyond — 158 wrestlers in total — gathered in the Shadow Hills gym on Saturday for the Cpl. Hunter Lopez Tournament of Warriors. Shadow coaches plan to make the tournament an annual event.
Senior Kaylin Montaño was ready for a day of hard work, especially considering what the tournament represents. “I feel amazing that I can support this cause,” she said. “I’m here to represent what Hunter Lopez was all about. Full send.”
Alyson Ortiz had a similar outlook. “I’m grateful to have a coach that cares about legacy, and I’m thankful to carry on Hunter’s legacy,” the senior said.
