One accessory seems to dominate the hallways of Shadow Hills High School as the school year unfolds: headphones.
From sleek wireless earbuds to oversized noise-canceling sets, students wear them proudly. For many, headphones help their school day fly by, keep them focused on assignments, and improve their mood.
“I get to listen to music and it makes time go by faster,” said Gizelle Reyes (’27). “I’m on task and I’m less likely to get off task and finish whatever I’m doing in class.”
Every student has their own taste in music, which can influence their day. Playlists are a big part of that experience.
“My main playlist is called ‘Yay.’ It’s all of my favorite songs in one place so that’s definitely my go to,” said Areli Velasquez (’27). “I change it up a lot though if I get tired of certain songs,” Velasquez added
Whether boosting energy, relieving stress, or improving focus, music is a powerful tool. For many Knights, headphones are a common and beneficial part of the school day.
