2025 was a big year for music, with many artists releasing their highly anticipated albums. These projects released this year were eagerly awaited by fans due to the artists being on extensive hiatuses without giving fans any new music.
Music is a big part of campus life at Shadow Hills, with many students often having headphones on around school. We wanted to know which albums students enjoyed the most.
Playboi Carti’s album MUSIC is a project that fans have been waiting to release for five years following Whole Lotta Red, which was released on Dec. 25, 2020.
Senior Aiden Vazquez explains why MUSIC was his favorite, “I have been following him since I was in elementary and I’m now in my last year of high school. I have seen his growth as an artist. We have been waiting for this album for five years not knowing if an album, let alone a single, was even on the way.”
A survey was given out to students to see what album was their majority favorite this year. The survey had a very diverse response, but with 22.6% of votes, Don’t Tap The Glass by Tyler The Creator was the winner.
Don’t Tap The Glass was an album fans were not expecting. The announcement of the album’s release came following a concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 197,000 album-equivalent units earned in its first week.
More Chaos by Ken Carson only received two votes in the student survey, making it an album that went under the radar, but not for senior Julian Estrada.
“I’ve always liked finding new artists and keeping up with Ken Carson has always been something I look forward to,” Estrada explained. “I stayed up late for the album and after listening to it I was amazed to see how an artist can master their sound. His last album was amazing and this one was well worth the wait too.”
