George Sauceda ('26) gets soaked by friends on Oct. 10, 2025.
Shadow Hills High School students gathered in the quad during lunch on Friday for “Soak A Senior,” a fundraiser where students paid to dump water on seniors.
This event is a fun and efficient way to raise money, bringing together students and sports teams to participate. Many seniors enjoy participating as it’s their last year of high school, and they want to take advantage of every opportunity.
“I volunteered for this to showcase being a senior on the volleyball team along with being in ASB. It’s exciting to see everything worked for pay off,” said Adisyn Wright, a senior who plays volleyball and is part of the ASB leadership team.
Her goal for the fundraiser is to “raise as much money as possible and support fall sports, and see the community within the school.”
Each bucket of water dumped on a senior cost $3. Many sports are participating, including flag football, boys water polo, volleyball, dance, and tennis. George Sauceda, a senior in the marching band who loves music, also participated.
Sauceda pointed out that many seniors participate because “it’s really fun, hilarious, a lasting memory, and is enjoyed by many.”
Joaquin Ruiz, a senior on the dance team, enjoys “[being] involved with his school community and to have a family on campus to become a part of.”
“My favorite part about doing this fundraiser is definitely seeing the campus unity. It’s really special to see so many different parts of what makes our campus special converge together to participate in this event,” Ruiz said.
The highest amount of money raised in the past was $600, and organizers are looking to see if this year’s students will exceed that number.
